CELEBRATING LOVE

South Africa was the first country in the world to maintain sexual orientation as a human right in the constitution. In 2006, South Africa became the first (and currently only) African country to legalise same-sex marriages. The ruling was celebrated by many as another step away from the restrictive past of apartheid law. Two game rangers, Vernon Gibbs and Tony Halls, were the first same-sex couple to wed. Fighting against many global norms, South Africa celebrates love in all forms.
