CELEBRATING THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH AFRICA

The Freedom Charter is a document written in 1955 by the South African Congress Alliance. The document was an expression of resistance against the government. The Freedom Charter asked for fundamental changes to how
people were treated within the country. It was a list of freedoms that the Alliance agreed should be given to everyone and outlined exactly what the fight against apartheid would be about. Out of the darkness of the apartheid
regime came the Freedom Charter, a document that celebrates the people of South Africa and their rightful freedom within the country, and a document that would be the foundation of one of the most liberal constitutions in the world.
